New Transport Management System (TMS)
To further improve the service Pulleyn Transport Ltd provides its customers, investment was made in the purchase of a new Transport Management System (TMS).
The system, Manpack 3, was supplied by Mandata Ltd.
The new TMS is a windows based system. It allows much more functionality and flexibility when entering jobs, managing the diary function, creating documentation and creating reports.
As part of the Transport Management System the drivers have been issued with PDA’s (Personal Digital Assistant). This will allow drivers to receive instructions and update their delivery status’ en-route. These updates will interface with the TMS. This means the TMS will hold real-time data and this will be used to improve our communications with our customers. The PDA’s will record the POD (Proof of Delivery) signature at the delivery point. The POD will be sent directly from the PDA to the TMS. The POD signature can then be forwarded on to our customers at their request.
These systems will be supported by a new Warehouse Management System (WMS), planned to be up and running by early 2011.
The WMS will incorporate RF (Radio Frequency) technology. This will help increase Warehouse throughput, provide real-time data and improve stock traceability (audit trail).
